Electronic Domain Ownership Certificates

For domains registered with us, we offer an electronically signed domain ownership certificate.

Customers regularly asked us for domain ownership certificate, which they could use not only for official matters. We have therefore decided to create a system of certificates that are electronically signed and meet all the requirements for confirming domain ownership (and other statuses) as of the date of issuance.

Unlike paper domain ownership certificates, which are more for decorative purposes, electronic certificates can be generated repeatedly and will always carry up-to-date information.

How Does the Electronic Certificate Work?

This is an add-on service for domains registered with us. After activating the add-on, you can immediately issue a certificate in PDF format that contains our recognised electronic signature. The electronic certificate can be downloaded from the customer administration or sent by e-mail.

The domain ownership certificate contains the following information:

  • Domain name
  • Holder (owner)
  • Holder’s address
  • Domain registration date
  • Domain expiration date
  • Registrar
  • Date of issue of the electronic certificate

If the additional service is active, the electronic domain ownership certificate can be regenerated with a new date at any time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Currently, you can access all the domains we have on offer and manage them in the customer administration in the domains section.

For subdomains, we do not record the owner and have no way to verify this information. Our certificate system works with WHOIS, where subdomains are not registered.

Even given the terms of the registry and the operation of the domains, this would be quite complicated.

Yes, but keep in mind that the electronic version is valid.

The certificate confirms the status of the domain in the registry as of the current date and time. This information is permanent. Even if someone else owns the domain in 10 years, the certificate confirms that you were the owner at the time it was generated.

The Domain Ownership Certificate confirms the following statuses as of the date and time of deletion:

  • Domain name
  • Holder (owner)
  • Holder’s address
  • Domain registration date
  • Domain expiration date
  • Registrar
  • Date of issue of the certificate

The certificate will thus be useful for any authority that requires you to provide any of these details for the domain. Electronic certificates are signed with our recognised electronic signature, which we use for invoices, for example.

Basically, it means that we (WEDOS Internet, a.s.) confirm and sign that the domain has the above data registered in the WHOIS database as of the date and time.
