Electronic Domain Ownership Certificates
For domains registered with us, we offer an electronically signed certificate of domain ownership.
Many times, our customers have requested domain ownership certification, which could be needed by authorities. We have therefore decided to create a system of certificates that are electronically signed and meet all the requirements for confirmation of domain ownership (and other statuses) as of the date of issue.
Unlike paper certificates of domain ownership (we are preparing), which are used mainly for decorative purposes, you can repeatedly generate electronic certificates that will always contain up-to-date information.
How Does the Electronic Certificate Work?
The electronic certificate is a surcharge service. It allows you to create a PDF domain certificate, which will include our electronic signature. The certificate can be sent to your e-mail address or downloaded in the control panel.
The certificate contains the following information:
- the domain name
- the owner
- the owner’s address
- the registration date
- the expiration date
- the registrar
- the certificate issue date
Until the surcharge service is active, you can renew the certificate anytime – with a new issue date.

Frequently Asked Questions
Currently, we can offer the domain ownership certificate for all domains within our offer.
Sadly not. We do not store owner information for subdomains, so we are not able to verify it. Our system works with the WHOIS database which also does not store subdomain owner information.
Based on the registry conditions and domain name system, this would be really complicated.
Currently not.
We are preparing the paper domain ownership certificate you can use as a decoration or as a gift.
If you are interested in the paper version now, please contact us. We can prepare an individual offer.
Yes, you can, but remember that only the electronic version can offer the electronic signature.
The certificate shows the domain information for the date and time it was issued. The information is permanent.
Even if the domain has expired or the owner has changed, you can still use the certificate to prove, that in the date and time of the certificate issue you were the domain owner.
The domain ownership certificate confirms the following information as accurate at the date and time of the certificate issue:
- the domain name
- the domain owner
- the owner’s address
- the registration date
- the expiration date
- the registrar
- the date and time of the certificate issue
The certificate can be used by any authority that will require to prove some of the domain information for a certain period of time. The certificate is signed with our valid electronic signature, the same is used for our invoices.
It means, that we (as WEDOS Internet, a.s.) are confirming and signing the domain information in the WHOIS database for the time of the certificate issue.
